Chancellor Caret Appoints Bowie State University Presidential Search and Screening Committee

Adelphi, MD (Nov. 16, 2016) -- Robert L. Caret, chancellor of the ÏÂÔض¶Òõ (USM), today announced his appointment of the search and screening committee for the president of Bowie State University (BSU), one of the university system's 12 institutions.

BSU President Mickey Burnim announced in September that he will step down on June 30, 2017, the end of the USM 2017 fiscal year.

The chair of the search committee is Linda Gooden, who also chairs the USM Board of Regents' Committee on Organization and Compensation and is a retired executive vice president of Lockheed Martin Information Systems & Global Services.

The other members of the committee, which includes representatives from the Bowie State faculty, staff, students, and alumni, and from the greater community, are (alphabetically):

  • Eva Garin, BSU Professor, Department of Teaching, Learning, and Professional Development in the College of Education
  • Makeba Green, BSU Associate Professor; Chair, Department of Social Work in the College of Professional Studies
  • Traviss Green, BSU Alumnus, Intel Security Group Director, DoD Business Development
  • April Johnson, BSU Dean, Student Life and Director of Career Development Center
  • Steve Jost, BSU Director of Procurement
  • Glenn Mahone, BSU Foundation Chair
  • Sammye Miller, BSU Chair, Department of History & Government in the College of Arts & Sciences
  • Ricardo C. Mitchell, President, BSU National Alumni Association
  • Ramonia Morant, BSU Student, President of Graduate Student Association
  • Anne Moultrie, USM Vice Chancellor for Communications, who is serving as the committee's liaison to the chancellor

  • Colette Youngblood, Vice Chair BSU Board of Visitors and President/CEO Versatile Business Solutions
